How to get Souvenir packages in CS2?
Getting souvenir packages might be confusing. After this guide, you will know everything about souvenir packages!
Souvenir
PackagesMajor Viewer Pass & Buying Souvenir Packages
You can purchase the Viewer Pass of the current major using the CS2 in-game shop. The Viewer Pass comes in two different versions:
Viewer Pass
Viewer Pass + 3 Souvenir Tokens
These Souvenir Tokens can be exchanged for a souvenir package of any completed game of the major. As the Viewer Pass + 3 Souvenir Tokens comes with a small discount of 5%, it's actually cheaper to purchase the bundle instead of the normal Viewer Pass and purchase each souvenir package by itself later on.
If you want to spend the least amount of money on your souvenir packages, you can also earn 1 Souvenir Token each level by leveling up your Pick’Em coin for the currently active Major.
The Pick’Em coin has 4 different tiers:
Bronze
Silver
Gold
Diamond
This way, you can earn a total of 3 souvenir tokens. Keep in mind that this is only possible during the major. There is no possibility to level up your major coin after the event has closed. The PGL Major is closing on the 31st of March 2024.
You redeem the earned Souvenir Tokens in the CS2 viewer pass by clicking on a completed match in the different stages of the major. Every completed match will give you the opportunity to obtain the souvenir package for that map which will then contain 4 stickers.
Team 1 Sticker
Team 2 Sticker
Map Sticker
Tournament Sticker
If want to open more than 3 souvenir packages, you can simply buy more souvenir packages at the CS2 Major in-game store. Every souvenir package costs 2.85 EUR or 3 USD. As there is no limit in supply for souvenir packages, you can purchase as many as you like.
You can also purchase these souvenir packages on Skinport.
You can also still purchase the viewer pass later on to receive the bronze major coin. This way you can also purchase old operation or major viewer passes to collect all of the existing coins.
Souvenir packages can only be obtained for collections of maps that are a part of the active map pool at the time of the major.
For the 2024 PGL Copenhagen Major the following souvenir packages are obtainable:
Mirage
Vertigo
Overpass
Inferno
Nuke
Anubis
Ancient
Some collections have already been reworked, like the Mirage, Nuke, and Vertigo Collection. Old packages can still be opened and all of the old items can still be unboxed. To make it less confusing, valve renamed the new Mirage collection to 2021 Mirage, Nuke to 2018 Nuke, and Vertigo to 2021 Vertigo.
Old Drop System
Not only the collections have been reworked, but also the entire drop system from souvenir packages has a long history with drastic changes.
In the early days of CS:GO all souvenir drops were dropped to a small percentage of players that are actively watching the livestream. The final map of the 2015 ESL One Cologne was dropping about 20.000 souvenir packages for 1.2 million viewers. This means only 1.6% of the viewers got a drop.
As every round triggered another drop wave of souvenir packages, depending on the number of active viewers, the supply of specific souvenir packages is limited. As most of the old souvenir packages have been opened over the years, only a very small number of souvenir packages from 2013 to 2019 are left.
All of these older souvenir packages were also assigned to a specific round and "signed" by the MVP of that round. Therefore, one of the most valuable souvenir packages out there is a Cobblestone souvenir package signed by "kennyS", the most popular AWPer at that time. This package will give you a very small chance to unbox a Souvenir Dragon Lore signed by "kennyS".
If a player failed to get a single MVP round during the game, or even the major, not a single souvenir package with the player's autograph would be dropped.
If you are on the hunt for a souvenir package signed by a specific player, you need to check the exact description on steam, as this will tell you which player was the MVP of that round and therefore the signing player.
Due to a bug in drops at DreamHack Cluj- Napoca in 2015, some souvenir packages were dropped during the warmup of the match, resulting in drops without any autographs on them. In many other tournaments, the coaches of some teams had to stand in for one of the pro players resulting in unsigned autograph souvenir packages were dropped for rounds where the coach was MVP.
As older souvenirs are no longer obtainable and it does not look like Valve is planning to revert the souvenir package changes to the old drop system, it is unlikely that we will see any MVP autographs on future CS2 souvenir skins.
